A 59 year old mentally ill man has allegedly raped and killed his 83 year old mother because she 'burnt his food', reported Proto Thema newspaper yesterday.
According to the news report, the victim died from strangulation while the perpetrator washed and dressed his mother's body after the crime.
The perpetrator allegedly said he committed the heinous crime because his mother burned his food. It is noted that in 1993, the man had also killed his grandmother in the same village.
The 59 year old from Kosmati, Grevena, has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals, with locals confirming his mental health issues,
The president of the village Mr Christos Polyzos noted that the last time the perpetrator was admitted to psychiatric hospital was in the summer after intervention by the Prosecutor because he has been going around smashing down the doors of local residents.
