Oktay insists Turkey defends the "Blue Homeland" when faced with criticism from the opposition

"We strongly defend our sovereign rights in the Blue Homeland," Turkish Vice President Fuat Oktay said provocatively from parliament when responding to criticism from the opposition.

Responding to the opposition parties, which accused the Erdoğan government of bad policy of the Eastern Mediterranean, the vice president said:

"Those who when we defend our sovereignty in the Blue Homeland and try to clarify the areas maritime space accuse us and say, 'What business do you have in Libya?', they can not today challenge our policy in the Eastern Mediterranean."

The Blue Homeland is a revanchist Turkish ambition to steal Greek maritime space and has received no international support or backing.
