Greece’s Freedom Pass Incentive for Young Vaccinated Adults Extended

Greece’s Freedom Pass programme offering a pre-paid card worth 150 euros to 18- to 25-year-olds who are vaccinated against Covid-19 has been extended until June 30, 2022, the government has announced.

The Freedom Pass card was launched in July of this year to serve as an incentive and a reward for vaccination against Covid-19 for young adults aged between 18 and 25.

The first day of those eligible being able to apply for the prepaid card saw more than 120,000 apply, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said.

More than 500,000 young people who were born between 1996 and 2003 have used the Freedom Pass in Greece since its introduction.

The Freedom Pass can be used for the purchase of products and services from transport, culture and tourism enterprises in Greece, either presented physically or used online.

The pass covers costs for travel and entertainment, including airfare or ferry tickets, vehicle rentals, accommodation, admission to museums and archaeological sites.

It is valid for those who meet the age criteria and have taken at least one shot of any vaccine against Covid-19.

To receive the card, eligible individuals must submit their application at freedompass.gov.gr using their Taxisnet password and username (those who do not have a tax number can get one at the KEP citizens’ service centres).  The applicant must also provide their cell phone number and e-mail so that information on how to activate the card can be sent via SMS and e-mail the following day.
