Greek National Defence Minister Nikos Panagiotopoulos reported low vaccination numbers amongst the country's military personnel during his speech in Parliament on Monday.
According to the Minister, just over 60% of permanent staff at each of the three branches of the Armed Forces are vaccinated against Covid-19.
Responding to a question by Communist Party (KKE) MPs Nikos Papanastassis and Thanassis Pafilis, Panagiotopoulos said that 72.59% of the Navy General Staff, 63.51% of the Army General Staff, and 62.23% of the Air Force General Staff are fully vaccinated, with a certificate to prove so.
"Informing staff on the necessity of vaccination and its positive effect on the pandemic's development is a basic priority of the Ministry of National Defence, which is proven, among others, by the high percentages of vaccination by National Defence staff," he said.
