The creation of Isaac Constantine and Zachary Riggs, founders of Chapel Street’s popular Two Wrongs dive bar, the Golden Fleece is a sun-filled oasis of Greek paradise in the middle of South Melbourne.
The Golden Fleece opens at a time when destination themed venues are all the rage amongst a travel starved population, deprived of holidays or any change of scenery due to seemingly endless periods of COVID-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions.
Reminiscent of a true ancient Greek-style agora, the newly renovated venue is set to host live music and DJs, collaborative events, art gallery showings plus much more.
First licensed in 1871, this latest full renovation is the most dramatic of a number of restorations that have occurred over the 140 year history of the premises.
The chic rooftop terrace rests atop two floors of stylish dining space and the hotel’s own bottle shop.
In addition to an assortment of fresh pastas, pizzas and your classic pub fare, the hotel offers guests a Greek-inspired tapas menu including saganaki, salt and pepper calamari, white anchovies, arancini, house olives, bread, and dips.
With the house’s own Golden Fleece wines, the venue offers a selection of wines, beers and signature cocktails such as the Greek inspired ‘Journey to Lemnos’.
For those who prefer to stay in, the bottle shop is soon set to offer a subscription service whereby you can order your favourites to be delivered to your door each month.
