Francesca Jones is beaten by Despina Papamichail in the first qualifying round in Adelaide.

Despina Papamichail from Greece beaten Jones from the UK in in one hour and forty-two minutes by 3-6, 6-2 and 6-1.

In the next round of the tournament, Papamichael will face the winner of the match between Switzerland, Stephanie Fegele and the German Tatiana Maria.
