Aussie tennis star Nick Kyrgios has leapt to the defence of Novak Djokovic, criticising Australia’s “immoral” treatment of him during yesterday ongoing visa cancellation
Djokovic is under house arrest in Melbourne’s Park Hotel until at least Monday while he awaits the result of an appeal of his visa cancellation after refusing to prove his vaccination to border force Australia.
Kyrgios took to Twitter to slam the country’s treatment of Djokovic, as well as the huge public backlash against his vaccination stance.
“Look I definitely believe in taking action, I got vaccinated because of others and for my mum’s health, but how we are handling Novak’s situation is bad, really bad,” Kyrgios.
“Like these memes, headlines, this is one of our great champions but at the end of the day, he is human. Do better.”
