The body of a 37-year old Iranian man was found by rescuers in the mountains of Lagadio, in the municipality of Visaltia of Serres, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to Greek police, a search and rescue operation for the man's 24-year old wife has so far brought no result. It was the woman's 22-year-old brother who alerted authorities via the European Emergency number 112 earlier in the day, it was added.
The region, north east of Thessaloniki, is currently affected by the severe weather front 'Diomedes' with snow and high-velocity winds.
Rescuers will resume their efforts to locate the man's wife on Thursday morning, in the light of day.
