Novak Djokovic has lost his court case and is set to be deported

Novak Djokovic

BREAKING: World No. 1 Novak Djokovic will be deported. He is officially out of the Australian Open, denying the tennis champion the opportunity to win a record 21st Grand Slam.

Djokovic v Minister for Immigration, Citizenship, Migrant Services and Multicultural Affairs decision is final.

Chief Justice Allsop is making clear that this application is not an appeal against the decision of the executive government. It is a review of the decision for the lawfulness or legality of the decision.

Djokovic's lawyers had argued Hawke's decision was "illogical, irrational or unreasonable" and the minister based it on Djokovic's public statements about vaccination without actually seeking his views.

His application has been dismissed with costs.

The decision was unanimous between the three judges.

Djokovic says he is 'extremely disappointed' by court outcome but says he 'respects the court's ruling' and hopes we can 'all now focus on the tournament'.
