Greece to publicly name and shame businesses that breach pandemic measures

By 2 years ago

Greece will be introducing a law that allows for the naming of companies and businesses that breach health measures in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.

According to Greek media reports, an amendment tabled to the draft law of the Ministry of Development and Investment ensures "the possibility of disclosing the names of companies that violate the measures against the spread of Covid-19"

The purpose of the provision, according to a explanatory memorandum, "is to immediately and publicly, through timely communication to consumers - citizens, make public any violation of measures that endanger public health".

Finally, this provision "discourages businesses from non-compliance and deters the public from attending and transacting with companies that do not operate legally in terms of measures to contain the transmission of the coronavirus."
