Direct threats from Çavuşoğlu to Greece: "They are sponsoring terrorists, they will pay a heavy price"

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu launched direct threats to Greece and Cyprus on Thursday after his meeting with the Estonian Foreign Minister, accusing the two countries of sponsoring the Fethullah Gülen movement (FETO) and the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK).

"They use and put forward terrorist organisations to fight us. As Turkey, we have reached the point of solidarity with countries with which we have had the worst relations, in order to fight terrorism," Çavuşoğlu said.

"We also know that the PKK and the DHKP-C [Revolutionary People's Liberation Party/Front] were trained in Greece and carried out attacks against us," said the Turkish Foreign Minister.

When speaking about the arrival of illegal immigrants from Turkey, he said "Greece is playing with fire with their hospitality."

"I want to say this: they allow them to have delegations there. For this purpose, if there is an attack from their side towards us, they will pay a heavy price," Çavuşoğlu procatively threatened.

In the same vein, Çavuşoğlu spoke of the presence of the PKK in Cyprus, threatening Greek Cypriots by saying that "they will pay for it" if there is an attack against Turkish Cypriots.

"Let them not play with fire," he said.

Çavuşoğlu also spoke about the maritime zones and the explorations, discovering... attempts of violation by Greece and Cyprus.

"All countries have a continental shelf, they have territorial waters. The research is done in this context," he said.

"There have been nine attempts by Greece and the Greek Cypriot side to violate our continental shelf in the last year.

"The last attempt was made this morning. Of course they did not achieve their goal, while sometimes they brought ships from third countries.

"All this shows that the countries that are not in favour of equal distribution are taking steps ignoring the rights of the Turkish Cypriots and Turkey."
