Greece injects 100 million to replace old air conditioners, fridges for 200,000 households

Greece is set to subsidize the replacement of air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers which will benefit a total of 200,000 households announced the Environment and Energy Ministry.

According to the ministry,  the Mitsotakis government is set to subsidise the replacement from 30% to 50%, within the framework of the programme that is expected to be announced by the middle of the year.

The programme for the replacement and recycling of energy consuming electrical appliances will have a budget of 100 million euros with the possibility of securing additional resources if there is high demand.

According to the Environment and Energy Ministry, a basic condition of the programme is the recycling of old appliances (air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers) as these appliances create the largest loads of electricity.

Beneficiary households will be able to replace up to three electrical appliances.
