Body of new-born baby boy found in Thessaloniki cemetery

The body of a newborn baby boy was found in a dump inside the cemetery of Thermi by Τhessaloniki, northern Greece. the body was found at 8 o’clock Wednesday morning by a cemetery clerk.

The shocked man immediately alerted the Greek police.

The man has said that the body was frozen, something that suggests it may have been abandoned there for a few days, local media thestival.gr reports.

According to state broadcaster ERT, the 30-centimetre-long body had still the umbilical cord around him.

There are indications that the newborn was premature.

The body of the newborn was taken to the forensic service of the city, an autopsy scheduled to be performed tomorrow, Thursday, is to determine whether the baby was stillborn or his death occurred later, when and how.

In an effort to identify and locate the mother, police have launched an investigation.
