Greece's Mytilineos breaks ground on 110-MW Aussie solar project
Greek industrial group Mytilineos SA (FRA:MYH) has initiated construction works at its 110-MW Moura solar photovoltaic (PV) project in Queensland, Australia.
The sod-turning ceremony was announced earlier this week by the Banana Shire Council.
To be located between the township of Moura and Banana in Queensland’s Banana Shire, the Moura solar park is expected to reach commercial operations around August 2022. The plant will cover roughly 203 ha (501.6 acres) of land and will be equipped with single-axis tracking systems. Once in operation, it will generate enough electricity to cover the consumption of more than 43,000 Aussie homes per year.
Mytilineos took possession of the scheme late in 2020 from domestic renewables developer ESCO Pacific. The project has in place a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Queensland government-owned energy company CS Energy.
The solar farm's construction will create 250 jobs.
