ANCA: "George Clooney turned down $35 million to appear in Turkish Airlines ad, Morgan Freeman did not"

In plain and simple terms, "George Clooney turned down $35 million to appear in an ad for  Turkish Airlines. Morgan Freeman did not."

This was said by the Twitter account of the Armenian National Committee of America.

It is recalled that Hollywood megastar George Clooney revealed in December 2020 that he rejected an astronomical $35 million to promote an unnamed airline.

He said at the time “Well, yeah. I was offered $35m for one day’s work for an airline commercial, but I talked to Amal [Clooney, the human rights lawyer he married in 2014] about it and we decided it’s not worth it."

"It was [associated with] a country that, although it’s an ally, is questionable at times, and so I thought: ‘Well if it takes a minute’s sleep away from me, it’s not worth it"," he added.

Clooney however did not disclose the name of the airline that offered him the huge pay day, which only sparked more interest in finding out who was the big name and price tag for promoting an airline.

Many, like Gary Leff, hinted at Turkish airlines who ended up using a Hollywood star — a replacement for Clooney?

“Of course it’s possible I’ve got this wrong because Turkey might fall into this same category of country and Turkish Airlines went with Kevin Costner,” he wrote in reference to first believing the country in question was the United Arabi Emirates, and not Turkey.

Clooney is an avid supporter of the Kurdish cause and was highly critical of the Turkish invasion of northern Syria.

None-the-less, ANCA feel confident enough that the airline in question is the Turkish state-owned one, and in this way, praised Clooney once again whilst highlighting that Morgan Freeman accepted their money.

The commercial featuring Morgan Freeman debuted online on February 10 and aired during the February 13 American Super Bowl.
