EUROVISION 2022: Reactions from Turkey on Greek video in Symi

Symi Eurovision

Sounds incredible but it happened - the shooting of the Greek video clip for Eurovision, which took place in Symi, provoked strong reactions from Turkey!

What happened?

The 24-year-old Amanda arrived in Greece not so many days ago.

She went to the Aegean island of Symi to shoot the video clip of the song that will represent Greece at Eurovision 2022, which will be take place in Turin.

Who would have believed what would follow in the coming days?

The Turks identified… political motives in the video clip!

With the shooting completed, the first reactions from Turkey did not take long to arrive.

The Turks appear annoyed by the choice of the island in the video clip as they believe that Greece uses the competition for politicians aims!

In some extreme posts, commentators even went so far as to claim that Symi is a Turkish island and not Greek...

It is worth noting that all these posts were made not only on private social media accounts, but also as comments on official pages of the music competition, which will take place in May in the northern Italian city.

Even the mayor of Symi, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, took a stand on these reactions.

"It would be good for us to do the job and advertise our island and Greece," he said.

"The Turks can say what they want, after all, and they themselves know what the truth is.

"It is not in anyone's interest to raise tones.

"It's a silly post.

"Let's makes the best wishes for our song."

Of course, all this takes us back many years and reveals that some people choose to use even an innocent music competition to promote their extreme views.
