Putin sends Russian hit-squad to assassinate Zelensky

Ukraine has reportedly taken out a Russian hit-squad sent by Vladimir Putin to assassinate the country's President, Volodymyr Zelensky reported news.com.au.

According to the news outlet, leaked  intelligence from Russian officials sympathetic to Ukraine was responsible for the discovery of a hit-squad, which Ukrainians now claim has been neutralised.

Per the news report, The New Voice of Ukraine quoted Ukraine’s National Security and Defence Council secretary Oleksiy Danilov as saying that Russian sources passed information to Kyiv to assist authorities in finding the would-be assassins.

“They were divided in two groups, we were tracking them,” Danilov said.

“One group was handled near Hostomel [northwest of Kyiv], the other one is in our sights.

“We won’t give up our president, our country. This is our land, be gone.”

Two days ago, the Daily Mail reported that Putin had sent more than 400 mercenaries from private militia into Kyiv to assassinate the Ukrainian President.

"The private militia known as the Wagner Group allegedly has orders from Vladimir Putin to take out Zelensky - and 23 other government figures - to allow Moscow to take over its eastern European neighbour.

"According to the Times, the army-for-hire, run by oligarch Yevgeny Prigozhin - a close ally of the Russian president who is often dubbed 'Putin's chef' - was flown in five weeks ago and is being offered a huge sum for the mission." said the report.
