Greece is set for a significant influx of tourism from Saudi Arabia this year said Deputy Tourism Minister Sofia Zacharaki on Monday.

Zacharaki made the comments in the Saudi capital Riyadh, where a broad delegation of Greek ministers and industry executives, headed by Greek Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister for Economic Diplomacy & Openness Kostas Fragogiannis, are holding a series of meetings with state officials and corporate executives since Saturday.

New direct flights from Saudi Arabia to the islands of Mykonos and Santorini will be introduced this year, she noted, on top of current itineraries by Saudia and Aegean Airlines.

Zacharaki also noted that while in Riyadh she met with "business people who wish to invest in Greece in the field of hospitality," and with "tour operators and influencers who are looking for opportunities in Greece to advertise our destinations."
