On Monday, Greek tennis star Maria Sakkari beat former world No.2 Petra Kvitova 6-3 6-0 to reach the Indian Wells round-of-16.
Sakkari missed out on a breakpoint in the second game as the two players were tied at three games apiece after the opening six games. Sakkari claimed the first break of the match in the eighth game and saved two break points in the following game before realizing her second set point to win a tight opener.
After winning the first set, Sakkari broke Kvitova three times in the second set to book a straight-set win and finished off the match in style as she won the last nine games.
Sakkari, 26, is now enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 6 in the world.
Sakkari was asked about the vibe amongst the top-10 players on the Tour. "Yeah, well I'm actually happy that this is happening because it shows that there is - not a difference between us and the rest because we all lose to each other and there are so many good players right now.
