Montreal Greek Independence Day 2022 parade to be held March 27

The parade will showcase the various schools of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, associations, and other communities.

The Greek Independence Day parade will be held Sunday, March 27, at 1 p.m. And for the first time since 2019, it will be held along the usual route on Jean-Talon St. between l’Acadie Blvd. and Hutchinson St, after the pandemic forced its cancellation in 2020 and it was held online in 2021.

A tradition for more than 40 years, the parade will showcase the various schools of the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, associations, and other communities. The groups will consist of 10 to 12 people at most in order to respect current health guidelines.

Greek or not, bring your flags and get ready to pay tribute to the history, the heroism and the independence of the nation that started it all. The HCGM continues the more-than-40-year-old tradition of organising a series of commemorative events whereby Montrealers celebrate Greek Independence Day:

Thursday, March 24th at 18:00: – Vespers Service at the Greek Orthodox Church Evangelismos tis Theotokou, 777 St-Roch, in the Parc-Extension borough.

Friday, March 25th at 9:00: – Divine Liturgy at the Greek Orthodox Church Evangelismos tis Theotokou.

Friday, March 25nd at 19:00: – Official Dinner at the “Salle Quebec” of the Hellenic Community Centre Adrian Maris 5757 Wilderton Avenue. During the dinner, the HCGM will present the “Hellene of the Year” distinction to a Greek nominee in recognition of their social contribution and scientific and business successes.

Saturday, March 26rd at 13:00: – Laying of the Wreath Ceremony in front of the Cenotaph of the City of Laval, 1 Place du Souvenir.

Sunday, March 27th at 11:00: – Doxology at the Greek Orthodox Church Evangelismos tis Theotokou, 777 St-Roch, in the Parc-Extension borough.
