The 33-year-old Polish man who had killed in 2017 the 7-year-old son of his partner in Kypseli and kept the body unburied for years, was found dead in his cell in Corfu.
He was found at 15:30 on Tuesday afternoon hanging from a sheet.
His death is deemed a probable suicide as he was alone in a locked cell, while an investigation into the incident is underway.
The prisoner had been arrested on charges of murdering his partner’s son in 2017, concealing the body on the roof of their building in Kypseli and then proceeding to carry the child’s remains to a new apartment, concealed in a toolbox.
Police only discovered them five years later.
He told the police that he closed the child’s mouth with tape in the presence of the mother because he was naughty.
According to Protagon, they later justified the child’s absence by saying that he was with his father in Poland.
