Greece intends to lift all Covid-19 restrictions ahead of summer said Health Minister Thanos Plevris on Friday in Thessaloniki, where he participated in the events to mark the March 25 national holiday as a representative of the government.

He clarified that this would be a dynamic process, which would vary depending on the progress of the pandemic, while noting that a series of measures will be lifted by Easter.

Asked about the new anti-viral pills against the novel coronavirus, he said this prevention and vaccines remained the main defence against the virus, protecting against serious illness and hospital admissions.

Meanwhile Greece has made changes to its vaccination policy including vaccinated students and teachers who will now beĀ  required to only do one self-test a week now.

Currently, students and teachers who have been vaccinated are required to do two self-tests a week, with the results filed on an online government platform.

In addition, sports arenas will return to full capacity (100%) in terms of spectator admissions.

The government will provide details in the coming days through the publication of a governmental ministerial decision (KYA).

Meanwhile, the obligatory vaccination of staff in private and public healthcare facilities has been extended until December 2022, according to a regulation included in a Health Ministry draft law.

This draft law is for the approval of a new Stavros Niarchos Foundation donation to the Hospital of Sparti.
