With Greek Independence and the Annunciation (Evangelismos tis Theotokou) both falling on March 25, the Greek Orthodox of Damascus, as they do every year, celebrated both events.
The Greek Orthodox Cross Scout wrote on their Facebook:
“Assuring the brotherhood and loving relationship between the Syrian and the Greek peoples, the Church of the Holy Cross through its band participated in the Greek community’s celebration of Independence Day in Damascus”.
Although Greek Independence Day is on March 25, celebrations for the event were held the next day at the Church of the Holy Cross.
