President Zelensky asks Ukrainian troops to 'surrender' to Russia (VIDEO)

Zelenskyy Deepfake

A video of Ukraine's President Volodymr Zelensky asking his troops to surrender to the Russians which has gone viral on the internet, has been exposed as a 'deepfake', reports news limited.

According to the media outlet, 'Meta and YouTube had the task of dismantling a deepfake video of President Zelensky saying that Ukraine would surrender to Russia.'

'Ukrainians mocked the video. President Zelensky declared it “childish provocation” by the Russians on his official Instagram account, and the Ukrainian Center for Strategic Communications alerted the Ukrainian population that Russia could be using these types of videos to push Ukraine to surrender.

'Given both countries are attempting to influence the world’s media to tell their sides of the story, what role do these tapes play in the amount of deceptive information that has been circulating throughout the war, and – most importantly – are people around the globe actually trusting and believing the videos that they watch?'
