Cyprus travel update and latest rules for Greece

Cyprus is set to become the latest European country to remove travel restrictions for tourists next week.

Many nations have eased rules in recent weeks and months, in a bid to boost their economies and get back to a more normal way of life. At the moment, however, the UK is on Cyprus' red list.

This means British travellers who are not fully vaccinated must take a test before departure to Cyprus. They must also take another test on arrival.

Travellers must isolate at their accommodation until the result comes back – which is usually within three hours. Children under 12 are exempt from testing requirements.

This is all set to change on April 18 as the country's red, green and grey lists will be abolished.

Travellers will also no longer be required to hold a Cyprus Flight Pass. Currently anyone wishing to enter Cyprus must register for a Flight Pass at least 48 hours before setting off on their journey.

From April 18, vaccinated travellers will be able to enter Cyprus without having to take a test. Unvaccinated travellers must take a test before departure, but will not need a subsequent test on arrival.

As of April 11, people will no longer have to wear a face mask in outdoor settings. People will also no longer need to show a Safe Pass (similar to the NHS Covid Pass) when entering shopping malls, museums, public service premises, or open-air markets and festivals. However, it will be needed for people planning to enter restaurants.

Greece

Travellers aged five and above can enter Greece by showing proof of full vaccination, recovery from Covid-19, or proof of a negative PCR test taking within the 72 hour period before arrival. Greece has also made pre-holiday admin that little bit easier after it axed passenger locator forms for travellers last month.

Children under five are exempt from these travel measures and will not have to provide a negative test to enter Greece. Children aged 5 and above who have not had the vaccine will be considered unvaccinated, and must follow the same requirements as unvaccinated adults. This means they must be able to show proof of recovery from Covid-19 or provide a negative PCR result on arrival.
