Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his partner Georgina Rodriguez announced the death of one of his baby twins after his girlfriend gave birth, reported the Sun.

According to the media outlet, Cristiano and his partner Georgina, 28, announced they were expecting twins - a boy and a girl - in October last year. But the Manchester United star on Monday revealed to his fans that their baby boy has sadly passed away.

He said that his newborn daughter is "giving us the strength to live" despite their "deepest sadness."

Ronaldo tragically wrote on social media:

"It is with our deepest sadness we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away.

"It is the greatest pain that any parents can feel.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness.

"We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all their expert care and support.

"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time.

"Our baby boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."
