SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance criticised the visit of Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to Scotland on Tuesday and labelled it as offensive to the Greek people.
The opposition party noted that this visit is "a grave insult to Greeks, while households are struggling to make ends meet due to rising prices in basic goods and energy costs."
SYRIZA called on the Greek prime minister to "behave as an elected prime minister in both Greece and abroad, instead of a lackey of the former royal family of Greece."
It added that Tatoi "is the Greek people's property, who paid a generous compensation to the former royal family, which - as is well known - has sued Greece at the Court of Justice of the European Union."
Mitsotakis visited the 18th-century Dumfries House and its estate, part of The Prince's Foundation, by invitation of Charles, prince of Wales, to discuss ideas the estate could provide as to the use of the former royal estate of Tatoi north of Athens.
The Dumfries estate is managed by The Prince's Foundation, which assumed the renovation of the historic house and the working estate, and preserving the cultural heritage of the region was part of the discussion during the meeting between the premier and the prince.
Open to the public, the estate also hosts educational, environmental, and cultural events and is visited by thousands of school children every year.
The invitation to Mitsotakis comes after Prince Charles had expressed keen interest in Tatoi when he had paid a visit to Greece in March 2021 for the centennial of the Greek War of Independence.
