Greece has enough energy, no interruption expected

Greece has sufficient energy and no interruption in the country's supplies is expected, according to discussion at a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Wednesday.

The meeting was held after Gazprom suspended natural gas delivery to Bulgaria and Poland on Tuesday because they did not pay in rubles. The Russian energy giant stipulated however that it would continue to supply Europe with natural gas through Ukraine, based on demand.

According to information from the meeting in Athens, the next payment to Gazprom is due in the second half of May. Greece is and will remain energy adequate, while the ministry of Energy has alrady provided alternative plans in case of need.

Attending the meeting were Minister of Environment & Energy Kostas Skrekas, State Ministers Giorgos Gerapetritis and Akis Skertsos, Deputy to the PM and government spokesman Yiannis Economou, Secretary General of the PM Grigoris Dimitriadis, and Greece's Permanent Representative to the European Union, Ambassador Ioannis Vrailas.

In addition, the meeting was attended by the top management of the Regulatory Authority for Energy, Public Gas Corporation, Public Power Corporation, and officers of the PM's office.
