The Australian Parthenon Association will be hosting a free seminar on the Parthenon Sculptures in Sydney, this Sunday, 1 May, 2022 and invites all interested persons to attend this event where author, businessman and Chairman of the Association, David Hill, will focus on significant new developments.
Mr Hill will present an overview of the case against the British Museum, which has claimed the artefacts as their own for the past two hundred years. He will be joined by cultural heritage consultant, George Vardas, who will discuss recent restitution campaign developments, and media personality, Christine Gazepis Stavropoulos.
The seminar will highlight the history of the Sculptures, the forty-year impasse with the British Museum, UNESCO’s restitution resolution, the Greek Prime Minister’s personal cause, the recent return of a Parthenon fragment from Italy and where to from now.
The last event hosted by the Australian Parthenon Association was with the talented Geoffrey Robertson AO QC on the important issue of the repatriation of the Parthenon Sculptures.
