On April 28, Greek American Andrew Poppas, the highest ranking Greek-American in the US Armed Forces, was confirmed by the US Senate as the commanding general of the United States Army Forces Command, responsible for over 800,000 US Army Active, Reserve and National Guard soldiers. FORSCOM is the largest United States Army command and provider of expeditionary, regionally engaged, campaign-capable land forces to combatant commanders.
The Washington Oxi Day Foundation and many other community groups congratulated Lieutenant General Andrew P. Poppas on his recent promotion and assignment.
Poppas holds a Bachelor of Science in National Security Affairs from the United States Military Academy, a Master of Science in Occupational Education from Kansas State University and is also a graduate of the Defense Language Institute, United States Army Command and General Staff College, Senior Service College Fellowship at Harvard University and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School.
