Following the success of the preview exhibitions at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra and at the Australian Maritime Museum in Sydney, the highly praised and breathtaking photographic exhibition of Greece's Presidential Guards entitled 'The Evzones Collection" by Nick Bourdaniotis, will now have its first public viewing in Sydney.
The Hellenic Club of Sydney is proudly hosting this first open public viewing of 'The Evzones Collection" at the newly renovated building at ‘Beta – The Grand'.
Exhibition director Mr George Karantonis and exhibition curator Ms Eirini Alligiannis will be on hand to guide visitors through this unique photographic collection, showcasing Greece’s favourite sons: the elite and highly revered soldiers of the Greek Presidential Guard, known as the Evzones, in a rare, behind the scenes look at the routines, ceremonies and national commitments in their daily lives.
During the preview event at the Australian Maritime Museum in Sydney, Mr Bourdaniotis proudly announced to all those in attendance that 'The Evzones Collection" has been proudly invited to exhibit at the Athens War Museum in 2023, where thirty-three photos will be showcased for a month, in time for Greece’s 25th of March, Greek Independence Day celebrations.
More than 7,000 people have attended The Evzones Collection by Nick Bourdaniotis exhibitions across Australia so far and have helped raise over $40,000 for charities nationally.
Notably, "The Evzones Collection" also caught the attention of Dr Lina Mendoni, Greek Minister for Culture and Sports, who during her speech at a recent event held in her honour by the Consulate General of Greece in Sydney, praised the exhibition for its professionalism, artistic merit, and cultural significance.
