More than 1000 people filled the spectacular City Recital Hall in Sydney on Sunday 15 May for the Mikis Theodorakis: The Ballad of the Dead Brother and other Selected Works concert presented as part of the 40th Greek Festival of Sydney.
The sold-out show was performed by International Vocalist Dimitris Basis, acclaimed conductor George Ellis, and special guest Maria Yiakoulis who paid tribute to Greece’s most loved composer Mikis Theodorakis, focusing on one of his most memorable and celebrated works The Ballad of the Dead Brother.
The City Recital Hall was the ideal venue to host the performance of one of the finest songs written and composed by Theodorakis, as well as some of his most loved songs. Audiences were completely enthralled by the outstanding performance. It was a unique concert as for the first time this amazing ballad was performed by a symphonic orchestra.
