Former Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras pledges to legislate marriage equality

Former Greek Prime Minister and SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance leader Alexis Tsipras attended an event held by LGBTQI+ rights NGO 'Rainbow Families Greece' on Tuesday, International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia & Transphobia (IDAHOBIT).

The main opposition party leader recalled the extension of the cohabitation agreement by SYRIZA when it was in government. He also mentioned SYRIZA's work on the right of adoption for same-sex couples, and the legal recognition of gender identity.

Tsipras then pledged that when SYRIZA becomes government yet again, as he said, it will legislate equality in marriage for all, and the right to have children and free access to assisted reproduction methods regardless of gender, sexual orientation and gender identity.

These pledges, he added, are included in the political decisions of the party's 3rd Congress.
