The Wizard of Oz - All Saints Grammar stuns audience

When you think of school productions, you think of young students doing their best, but not quite impressing as well as the professionals.  This was certainly not the case at All Saints Grammar’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Even the professionals were impressed!

The packed house at NIDA were treated to a stellar performance by the students of All Saints Grammar, where The Wizard of Oz was performed in both English and Greek.   The hair, make-up, outfits, stage props, lighting, music and special effects were things that would normally be accustomed to high-end professional productions, but the professionalism of both students and staff left the audience amazed and enthralled.

Message from the head of school

Mrs Elfa Lillis wrote: “I am proud to present to our community our school’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Music, dance, dynamic performance, and abundant creative energy are brought together by the talents and innocence of our wonderful students.

We are the proud descendants of a Hellenic tradition full of art and intellectual contribution to the world. All Saints Grammar is a school where that rich heritage is cherished, so that it can nourish our present and enrich our future. Inspired by our culture and our Greek Orthodox faith, we instil in all our students, the desire to become a better person and a better learner.

This production of The Wizard of Oz has been made possible by the talent, resilience and perseverance demonstrated by our staff and especially our students. Despite the challenges of the current pandemic, we have persisted in our efforts to provide students with this authentic opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity. They ought to be commended for their tremendous effort.

I thank our Board of Directors and its President Mr Steve Rafeletos, our Parish Priest, Father Kyrillos Zisis, the staff of All Saints Grammar, and all the families that are part of our wonderful community. Without their continuous commitment, support and encouragement this production would not have been possible.

I also thank, His Eminence Archbishop Makarios of Australia for his support and spiritual guidance of our Greek Orthodox community. Above all, I thank our God for the strength he gives us to overcome challenges and the wisdom to educate our children to grow into healthy and happy individuals.”
