Unaccompanied refugee minors depart Greece for Portugal

Thirteen unaccompanied refugee minors from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Somalia departed from Athens International Airport on Tuesday, to be relocated to Portugal, announced the Migration and Asylum Ministry.

The group comprises twelve boys and one girl.

To date, Portugal has accepted a total of 247 unaccompanied children since the start of the Voluntary Resettlement Program in April 2020.

Another departure will follow at the end of June, which will complete 50% of relocations agreed with the specific country.

A total of 1,233 unaccompanied minors have so far been relocated to 13 EU countries from Greece under this program.
