An elderly British man is arrested in Greece for secretly photographing children on a Santorini beach

An elderly British man has been charged in Greece for allegedly photographing small children in secret on a Santorini beach. 

Parents claim they saw the man on Kamari beach taking photos with his mobile phone of young bathers who were wearing swimsuits. 

Local Greek media reported that soon after concerned parents tried to find police nearby the resort village which is a few kilometres away from the capital, Fira.

The area was searched and soon after the man was arrested over the allegations.

On Tuesday afternoon, parents who were on Kamari beach reported the elderly man who police say is from Britain to officers.

He was 'photographing the minor children who were playing carelessly', according to Protothema.

The elderly man was brought to Thira Police Sub-Directorate and identified by the mother of one of the children. 

And his case file was then referred to a prosecutor at the Naxos Court of First Instance. 

In Greece, it is illegal to photograph children without their parent's consent.
