Preliminary M4.8 earthquake near Karpathos, Greece

Karpathos Earthquake

The Athens-based Institute of Geodynamics said that a 4.8-magnitude earthquake struck overnight southwest of the island of Karpathos in the southeastern Aegean Sea.

The institute announced that the earthquake occurred at 2.24 p.m. local at an estimated depth of 51.1 kilometres, 21 kilometres off the island.

There have been no reports of damage.
