Greek and Italian cheeses dominate world rankings


Greek and Italian cheeses seems to dominate the 'Best Cheeses of the World' listing of the top 50 cheeses, which are ranked according to Taste Atlas audience ratings.

On the top spot is Canastra cheese from Brazil whilst in 2, 3, 5, 10, 11 spots are Greek cheeses Kalathaki Limnou, Graviera Naxou, Metsovone, Kefalotyri, and Graviera Kritis.

Overall around 13 Greek cheeses made the top 50 with 11 from Italy followed by 6 from France.

Meanwhile in another survey of the 10 Best Rated Cheeses by Food Atlas, 4 out of the 10 cheeses were from Greece: Metsovone, Graviera Naxou,  Graviera Kritis, and Kefalotyri.

For most popular cheeses: The legendary Greek feta comes in 3rd place, and Halloumi from Cyprus in 13th place.
