$20 Million in Cocaine Found Hidden in Jukebox Exported from Greece to Australia

Australian Border Force Officers have found a consignment of cocaine with around $20 million hidden in a jukebox that was imported from Greece to the Australian city of Melbourne earlier this month.

The drugs were found following a four month investigation into drug importation by a Melbourne-based syndicate and led to the arrest of three men on Wednesday.

Two local men - a 39 year old from Spotswood and a 26 year old man from Reservoir faced court yesterday on drug importation charges whilst a 66 year old Greek national has been released pending further enquiries.

Police said that the individuals arrested this week were classified as "significant syndicate members".

As part of the operation, luxury vehicles as well as watches, jewellery, drugs and cash were also seized by police who raided residential properties in Spotswood and Reservoir and commercial premises in Toorak and Kingsville.

"We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to ensure those who bring harm to our state are held to account, and that these criminal syndicates and strongly and deliberately targeted," said Acting Detective Superintendent Andrew Stamper.

"Our aim is to ensure we disrupt the organised crime syndicated responsible for these imports, so to charge two peopler as well as effecting these seizures is extremely satisfying."
