Katy Garbi cancels Rhodes concert after contracting covid

Katy Garbi was forced to cancel her concert planned for tonight in Rhodes as she announced through her Instagram account that she contracted the coronavirus. Dimitris Schina 's son is also positive .

"My dear Rodites friends, I am very sorry but we will have to cancel our concert," the singer wrote in her announcement.

"I woke up with my voice down and a while ago when I did a test like the whole team always does before every live I was found positive.

"The same with Dimitris, unfortunately. We will look to find a new date and I promise we will come as soon as we get well!"

Meanwhile, Health Minister Thanos Plevris attended a conference of the Medical Association of Heraklion entitled "Challenges and lessons learned for Sars-CoV-2" during his tour in Crete on Saturday.

Plevris reiterated his estimates that the increase in Covid cases during the summer will not put pressure on the national health system.

Regarding the possibility of a new vaccine, the Minister of Health said that the companies are currently trying to produce a single-dose vaccine that will be received once a year.

"At the moment we are not at this stage, we hope we will be as soon as possible," Plevris said.

Greece confirmed 15,869 new coronavirus infections in the last 24 hours, the National Public Health Organization (EODY) said on Friday, bringing all confirmed infections since the pandemic began to 3,692,371 (daily change: +0.4 pct).

Of the daily total, reinfections are estimated at 3,127 in the last 24 hours, while their total since the pandemic began is estimated at 174,551 (4.5 pct of the total positive results).

There are also 14 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours, bringing the total of pandemic victims to 30,250. Of these, 95.5 pct had an underlying condition and/or were aged 70 or over.

A total of 95 patients are on ventilators in hospitals. Their median age is 69 years and 91.6 pct have an underlying condition and/or are aged 70 or over. Of the total, 36 (37.89 pct) are unvaccinated or partly vaccinated and 59 (62.11 pct) are fully vaccinated.

Another 4,734 have been discharged from ICUs since the pandemic began.

In addition, 326 Covid-19 patients were admitted to hospital in the last 24 hours (daily change: +0.93 pct).

The average admission of patients with Covid-19 to hospitals over the last 7 days was 255.

The median age of new infections is 37 years (range: 0.2 to 112 years), while the median age of the deceased is 78 (range: 0.2 to 106 years).
