Three of the four crew members of the helicopter that crashed onto the sea off the Greek island of Samos while air-assisting a firefighting ground operation have been rescued by Hellenic Coast Guard vessels, it was reported on Wednesday evening.
Meanwhile, the coast guard authorities are continuing their search for the fourth crew member that is still missing.
The helicopter’s crew includes one Romanian national, two Moldovan operators and a Greek coordinator-translator.
One salvaged crew member is unconscious, and doctors at Samos general hospital were trying to revive him, it was reported.
Rescue teams continue their search for the remaining crew member.
Meanwhile, 38 firefighters with 15 fire engines were battling the unfolding blaze in the area of Paleochori, at Marathokabos, in Samos.
