Earthquake hits Crete

An earthquake measuring 4.5 on the Richter scale occurred at noon on Wednesday, July 20, in Crete.

According to the Geodynamic Institute, the earthquake's epicentre was located 7 kilometres northwest of Arkalohori, while the focal depth was recorded at 13.6 kilometres.

There were no reports of casualties or property damage.

On the news website Professor of Geology and Disaster Management Efthymios Lekkas reportedthat the shock occurred on the same fault line that caused the magnitude 6.3 shock Arkalochori in October 2021, where earthquakes killed 1 person, injured dozens, and left hundreds of residents in the area homeless.
