On Monday morning, following the intervention of relevant authorities following a prosecutor's order, the two-story house on Karabatzaki Street in the Volos neighbourhood of Nea Ionia, which had become dangerous for public health, was finally sealed.

It is noted that the water and electricity supply to the house had been interrupted.

The sealing of the house was done in the morning hours of Monday and after it was established, according to e-Thessalia, that the foreigners staying there, mainly Pakistanis, had left.

In fact, one of them, a 22-year-old Pakistani, was arrested by police for possessing a small amount of cannabis.

In particular, he was arrested by police since he was caught in possession of an improvised nylon package containing a quantity of raw cannabis (hashish) with a gross weight of about 0.51 g.

The 22-year-old claims to be a drug user. Of course, the fear of the residents is that the foreigners will return and break into the sealed house, again in order to find shelter.

It is recalled that for the house in question, the preliminary examination was ordered by the prosecutor of the Volos District Court, following the lawsuit filed by a neighbour regarding the sanitary conditions.

The preliminary investigation was entrusted to the Police Department of Volos, with the prosecutor, according to sources, requesting that the complaints of the residents be handled by the Health Department, Cleaning Service of the Municipality of Volos.

The protests of the residents were intense, and although the house located in the area is not abandoned, foreigners were gathering and finding shelter there, without respecting public health conditions.

Residents had also complained that the stench was sometimes strong.
