Sotheby’s International Realty has announced the sale of a uniquely designed Greek island home at €7.65 million reports Spaces maagazine.
According to the media outlet, the contemporary six-bedroom home on the island of Antiparos has a compass-like design that preserves historic trees while capturing panoramic views of the Aegean and has sea-facing infinity pool that follows the sweep of the house and gives swimmers the feeling of falling into the horizon.
Aptly named "Cronus" the home encircles an established lemon tree at the centre of the plot, which its creators wanted to retain because the local dry climate makes it difficult for vegetation to flourish.
'Athens-based studio Deca Architecture designed the semi-subterranean Greek island home in collaboration with its owners, using concrete and pale stone. Cronus has a central courtyard open to the sky with stone and glazed walls curving around it. Outdoor terraces are shaded by a monumental, sweeping roof with a bamboo thatched ceiling.
'Inside, pale peach plaster walls are enriched with ethnic woven textiles and artworks, and there are postcard views of majestic hills in the living room. Kitchen joinery mimics the building’s curved walls, and a faceted, copper-clad island is a striking counterpoint.'
