The Antipodes Festival (aka Lonsdale St Greek Festival) is the world’s largest celebration of Greek
culture outside of Greece and is a testament to Melbourne being one of the world’s largest Greek-speaking cities.

The event sees community, traditional and contemporary groups come together to present and perform across three stages. Eighty stalls along the street will be complemented by the Lonsdale St Precinct traders, who will extend their trade for the weekend.

Antipodes festival is back!

Mark your calendars for Saturday 22nd October and Sunday 23rd October 2022 so you don’t miss out on the world's largest celebration of Greek culture.

The Greek Community of Melbourne team is busily planning behind the scenes in partnership with both State and Local Government so that we can produce the best festival while also being covid safe.

Get excited! It will be a weekend to remember, and we can’t wait for you to be a part of it!

ANTIPODES 2020 WAS A HUGE SUCCESS!

Over the weekend, 100,000 people descended onto Lonsdale Street for Australia’s largest Greek Street party and celebration of all things Greek, the 2020 Antipodes Festival.

Organised by the Greek Community of Melbourne, the Festival featured a record number (over 90) of food, retail and community stalls, over 40 hours of free live entertainment programmed across three stages, children’s rides and attractions, and a plethora of delicious authentic food offerings.

The event was a huge success and is still regarded as the largest celebration of all things Greek outside of Greece, attracting a good mix of intergenerational first-time and regular attendees from all walks of life.
