Giorgos Dimitropoulos, the agent who founded Octagon Europe and helped Giannis Antetokounmpo make the leap from the A2 division to the NBA, passed away at 50.

As Octagon Europe announced: “The senior directors and the whole network of Octagon Europe are devastated to inform us that our beloved friend, partner, mentor, the founder of Octagon Europe Georgios Dimitropoulos, is no longer with us.

After 2,5 years of a tough battle, we mourn for the loss of a man who was unique, talented, a pioneer in what he did, and a true inspiration to all those who had the luck to associate with him. We vow to continue what he first imagined and then realized with the same determination, based on the same values that Giorgos lived his life. Our love goes to his beautiful wife and two amazing boys with our promise that his legacy will be forever honoured. So long, brother”.

George Dimitropoulos emerged two decades ago as one of the top agents, first in Greece and then in Europe. He was a key part of those who supported Giannis Antetokounmpo and made his improbable rise to NBA stardom possible. Theodoros Papaloukas, Nikos Zisis and Giorgos Printezis were among his top clients.
