Famous 'Christina O' Reaches Mykonos Shores

‘Christina O’, the beautiful yacht that once belonged to Aristotle Onassis, made its annual appearance on Mykonos shores yesterday, anchored serenely in the waters of Nammos Beach Club at Psarou beach yesterday.

“The famous Christina O just reached our shores!” came the excited announcement on the Nammos World social media pages.

Christina O was originally built during the second World War as a Canadian frigate before being purchased by Greek shipping tycoon Aristotle Onassis in 1954 for $34,000 before spending a further $4 million on transforming the vessel into the most iconic and luxurious superyachts ever launched.

Named for his daughter Christina, over the years Christina O played hostess to the superyacht elite, with guests including Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra, John F Kennedy and Winston Churchill.

After falling into a state of disrepair after the death of Onassis in 1975, shipowner Ioannis Pavlos Papanikolaou bought the ship in 1998 and undertook a meticulous restoration project for the astronomical sum of 50 million dollars, restoring the yacht to her former glory in 2001.

The grand interiors and luxurious amenities of Christina O can now be enjoyed by charterers for up to €700,00 per week in high season.

Special features of the historic superyacht include its renowned Minoan bull and vaulter mosaic swimming pool that turns into a dancefloor, glamourous bar, and an outdoor spa.

Inside, you can find luxury accommodation for up to 36 guests as well as impressive dining and entertainment facilities complete with a fire-place, oak-panelled library, a ball room, cinema, gymnasium and music room complete with grand piano where the likes of Maria Callas and Frank Sinatra once performed.

In addition to its world-class amenities onboard, Christina O offers a toy box overflowing with the latest water sports gear including a flyboard, waterslide, jet ski, towable toys, kayaks, paddleboards and snorkelling equipment as well as four tenders including a Hacker Craft Limo Tender.
