A 23-year-old French tourist in the town of Eretria is in critical condition after she jumped out of a hotel room to avoid being raped by a compatriot.
The young lady was having fun with friends at an event at a hotel, according to Evia Thema, when a compatriot who works at the said hotel offered to help her when she felt unwell after drinking alcohol, taking her in the room where she was staying in the same hotel. There he tried to rape her.
The girl reportedly resisted vigorously while screaming for help.
An employee of the same hotel was near the room. When he heard the voices, he broke down the door and entered. The young lady freed herself from her compatriots hands and, going out to the balcony, jumped down to escape him.
As a result of the fall, the 23-year-old was injured. She was immediately transferred to the Chalkida Hospital in a critical condition.
The hotel worker was arrested and is expected to be brought to the Prosecutor’s Office of Chalkida, while the French authorities have already been informed about the incident.
