Heraklion Airport Alert: Plane with Mechanical Failure

Heraklion airport mechanical failure

An alert was sounded at the Nikos Kazantzakis airport in Heraklion, Crete, to raise the alarm about a plane coming in to land with mechanical failure.

The aircraft with approximately 140 passengers had taken off from Berlin with a final destination of Heraklion.

Disruption was caused at the airport when the captain of the aircraft in question informed the Nikos Kazantzakis Control Tower about damage to the plane's hydraulic systems.

Eventually, the aircraft landed without incident.

According to information provided by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority the problem that the captain was experiencing with the hydraulic system of the plane is quite a common issue, posing no danger, but can just cause the aircraft to stop prematurely on the runway.
