A Volkswagen ID.3 electric car was delivered on Thursday morning by the President of Kosmocar, Mrs. Lana Mandyla, to Archbishop Ieronymos II of Athens and all Greece.

The handover ceremony was attended by the General Secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Mr. Alexandra Sdoukou and the Director of the European Liaison Office of the Archdiocese, Archimandrite Apostolos Kavaliotis.

The Archbishop, known for his sensitivity to environmental issues, was thankful for the donation and emphasised the need to protect the environment.

The General Secretary of Energy and Mineral Raw Materials, Mrs. Alexandra Sdoukou, in her post on social media stated that: "I was today in the Archdiocese of Athens for an event with a special symbolic significance.”

The VW ID.3 electric car, offered by Kosmocar, is for the transportation needs of the Archbishop and is consistent with the requirements for the "green" transition.

“I was given another opportunity to see His Beatitude's practical interest and effort in the issues of Ecology, as well as the attention with which he monitors the national effort for a pollution-free environment,” she continued.

”I want to emphasise that it is an example to follow that we wish all the important people of the Church, but also ordinary citizens, to follow.

“The Ministry of Environment and Energy provides an ecological bonus for the purchase of electric vehicles as well as a comprehensive network of incentives, which makes electric mobility more attractive than ever in our country."
